Heritage Village Retirement Home is for people 55 years of age and older. It is located just south of Ridge Road on Cynthia Street, McAllen, Texas next to the Veterans Home.
We have been ministering at Heritage Village for over 10 years. The people who attend are from all denominations and since God is of no denomination or religion, I simply preach the Word of God from the Bible. We also serve communion once a month to all who wish to participate.
Our services are from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., but prior to starting we ask the group to choose their favorite hymn from the hymnal. We start with prayer requests and then continue with our worship service followed by the Word of God. Jeanie Zipf is our pianist and Lloyd Gordon leads worship and sings a special song in our services. Any participation from the group is welcomed and on occasion we will have a special piece of music from a resident member.
We have found that there is much hidden talent.
Bro. Laurel Zipf assists on bringing the Word and on occasion we will have a special speaker and we all have a good time of fellowship.
Because it is an informal setting, the residents come in informal attire.
The Home provides baked goods and coffee for the residents, therefore we enjoy this as well, if desired. Our services are open to everyone. We are there to serve at whatever capacity we are needed.
