Mens ministry

The Men’s Ministry department at McAllen First Assembly adheres to the philosophy brought forth by the HONORBOUND Men of Promise ministry of the Assemblies of God, in which the ultimate goal is to challenge men to become godly husbands to their wives, godly fathers to their children, godly supporters of their pastors, and full-fledged servants of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Here at McAllen First Assembly, it is this type of man that we pray to be, that we are daily becoming with the help of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The men at McAllen First Assembly are known for their hard work, generosity, and  love for God. They are praying, Lord-seeking and bible-reading men and are a blessing to our church and to God.  We try to help and support all ministries including the Royal Rangers, Girls Ministries, Youth, Sunday school, and community service, helping church members with chores or other things as we are able.  In the past, we have even provided entertainment and other services for other departments when they have fundraisers.  We have a talented bunch of men in our church and sometimes we do surprise others (pleasantly!) with that talent!
Men’s Ministries has 2 fundraisers per year and they have been a blessing for several years.  Their purpose is twofold. We do aim to raise funds to use throughout the year by selling hotdogs, but it is also a fun time of fellowship.  The youth and ladies that attend to help the men are a tremendous help and we have a great time together.
From September to May, the men meet on a monthly basis where we accomplish many things, both practical and spiritual. We discuss any projects that might be coming up and in need of our attention. Then we have a short devotional by Pastor Glover, followed by prayer on all needs that have been presented to the group and many that have been placed in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. We also leave a period of time for fellowship where we share a meal and get to know one another to establish lasting friendships based in our mutual love for Christ.  Sometimes we also have the opportunity to enjoy some of the talents that our men at church have like singing, playing an instrument, discussions on their professions, etc.
In summary, our men’s ministry is not so much a place or a thing, but it is a group of men with hearts to serve the Lord, each other, and those around us to the best of our God-given ability. We hope to have you join us as we continue to strive toward that goal day by day!

We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.  If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.  If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; If it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.  (NIV, Romans 12:6-8)
